A very good friend of Ronnie’s in Houston had gotten a corgi puppy, and Ronnie fell in love with Josie. He wanted a dog of his own, and Lisa and I found Bella. We also found a wonderful friend and mentor when we met her breeder. We wanted Bella to have a litter for friends and family. Those three were Baxter, Lucy, and Sara. We were hooked. We had always had dogs – all our lives – but never really wanted more than one at a time. This was different. Corgis are like children. Each one has his or her own very individual personality and you can’t help but love every one of them. Each one is loving, entertaining, smart, resourceful, surprising, beautiful, quirky……. I could go on and on. For instance, their herding instinct. They don’t need livestock – they will herd the family. You just won’t know how. Each has their individual way. It may be a poke from their cold nose on the back of your leg, it may be walking beside you and gently directing you, or, with Bella, she would walk in front of you and look back over her shoulder to be sure you were following. Of course, she was always the leader!

The past few years have brought so many wonderful families into our lives. Talking to prospective families for weeks, sometimes, before the puppy is ready to be picked up, makes us feel like old friends on Gotcha Day. Finding just the right home for each of our puppies is a huge responsibility. Our goal is for each one of them to be loved, cared for, and appreciated as much as we loved our beautiful Bella. Although we lost her much too soon in 2022, her beautiful, sweet spirit lives on in her puppies.

Our greatest compliment is when our families come back to us for their second puppy, or when a friend of one of our families contacts us wanting a puppy. We have puppy families now in fourteen states and two in Canada, and they truly are our families. Our greatest joy is receiving texts, e-mails, posts, and letters from our families with updated pictures of the puppies and their kids.
